A different approach

Many have commented that I need to blog again, which is true. However, for the time being I am going to go at this from a different approach. Just hitting highlights or funny thing my kids say-and they do say funny things ALL the time.

Clay:
-Just started his last semester to finish up his BSN at BSU
-Thoroughly enjoying watching and seeing all the "Signs of the times" going on all around the        world
-The ring leader of getting this family prepared with essential preparedness items
-A great example of getting up early

Annie:
-Trying to keep her calm while living in this circus
-Embarking on the wide world of homsechooling (so far so good)
-Canning a little (only the necessities that truly are better home canned)
-Assistant preparedness leader in the Ward home

Megan:
-Made a decision with her parents to be homeschooled this year
-Enjoys rollerblading, bike riding, climbing trees, and taking the neighbors dogs on walks
   - Continuing to increase her piano skills
-Decided to learn how to make cake and other goodies while left home unattended (some turned out well, others need a bit more practice)
-Extreme staller, especially when bedtime is involved

James:
-Getting more talkative with kids (not so much with adults)
-A great helper, when it is his idea
-Proficient at riding our little cars that we have
-Loves to hold and play with the neighbors kitten
   -Starts preschool in 2 weeks
-About the size of an average 2nd grader! Poor kid, since he isn't even 4 yet

Trey:
-The male wild child of the house
-While showing him some cows in a field today he screamed, "NO those are not cows, those zebras!" No amount of telling him otherwise would convince him.
-With the small attempts at potty training he tells me that he can't go potty in the toilet because he can only make the pee come out in his diaper.
-Yesterday he was spotted chasing his brother (much larger brother) with a cup screaming now you are gonna get it, you are in big trouble
-He loves to dish it out, but can't take it!
-Gets his tonsils and adenoids out Monday and ear tubes to boot!

Cambree:
-The wild female child of the house
   -Loud
   -Folds her arms for prayers
-Thinks she is just as big as everyone else
-Rode the little car down our driveway and crashed (she is too little to do this) then threw a fit until she was able to get back on the car and do it again
-Is a thrill seeker and not afraid of anything
   -Getting tubes on Monday too!

Thoughts:
While attempting a picnic at the park today saw a couple totally making out on the grass. Thankfully they were not right next to the picnic table-but unfortunately still within eye sight! After they were done the woman whips out a nursing cover to breastfeed her baby. I just found that interesting. Why bother covering when you are nursing if you are going to totally go at it prior? It just struck me as odd.

It is extremely challenging to go on a walk with 3 kids under the age of 3. The one old enough to walk takes major persuasion to continue to do so. The second old enough to walk, walks at a snail's pace and assures his mother that he has to walk slow because he is looking at the grass, or the lawn mowers, or the golfers or whatever! The one who should ride in a stroller prefers to walk. She walks faster than her slightly older brother, but falls regularly. I guess it's important to get fresh air so walking less than a mile in 35+ minutes is ok!

The smoke is starting to clear from the air here! Hallelujah! It has been so sad to learn of all the fires in the area, I use that term loosely!

Went on a real date with my husband on Saturday. To clarify, I mean we actually showered-just prior to leaving-not just the regular in the morning and then go somewhere in the evening kind of date. I wore make-up and even did my hair. Ya know, like you would if you were dating someone. We ate dinner at a new place-outside on their patio. Then we went to the Patriot Tour. It was fantastic. Made me even more grateful for our military service men and women and for the land of America and the principles it was founded upon. Grateful for the opportunities we have. Grateful to have a body. Have you ever stopped to think about what a wonderful gift a body is? It can do amazing things and can handle far more stress than we think it can. Anyhow, it was a fun evening and was nice to do something different, even though my 3 year old wanted to know why my hair was funny (he hates it when I curl it) and also wanted to know why I painted my eyebrows? Gotta love kids!
